History as a story July 1, 2010 Sublime porte (Winston-Salem, NC United States) My 10 year old grandson was enraptured by this book. He stayed glued to it until completion and has submitted his request for volume III. History as an exciting story.
Story of the World Volume 2 June 12, 2010 KHA (Fort Wayne, IN) This book is an amazing way to provide history for grades 1-5! I love this volume and all the other volumes as well. My kids really enjoy learning history and look forward to the next chapter.
Wonderful and Educational April 30, 2010 E. Avolio (Las Vegas, NV) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is such a great tool for teaching children. The chapters are a good length so not to bore the child. Most children want to continue reading and not stop. It is perfect and designed as a read aloud to young elementary age kids. I also recommend it for 6-8 graders as an independent read especially if you have not had much world history yet. Adults that did not learn much history in school would really benefit from this as well. The activity book is a priceless addition and I highly recommend it as well. The activities, color pages, and maps really help to bring a visual to the children. I have tried several curriculums and this by far outshines them all.
The Story of the World - Volume 2 March 15, 2010 S. Gray The books in this series are well written in a manner that is interesting to read. They impress me as a great way to get an overview of the big picture of human history as preparation for more indepth study in the higher grades.
Each volume covers a particular segment of history and is designed for one school year. The historical period covered is pretty much parallel to the period covered in the home schooling program we are following, but the book holds one's attention better than the one used in home schooling, which has more of the text-book format. I understand that there is a companion question and answer book for each volume, but I have not seen one of these books.
Great books November 21, 2009 Brian Buchholz We've just begun this series of 4 books due to Classical Conversations homeschool curriculum. I have enjoyed teaching history, but my kids haven't quite caught the bug. This series has given them something to look forward to. Every day for homework they read a couple chapters and relate to me how much they like the stories; never a complaint.
